History of FoodBin:
The Brummer family's home also has a small grocery store. Our corner store has been around for over 90 years. The business went really well once. In 2018, however, the idea was to close the store or do something completely different. The reason was the income and the enormous amount of work: too much to die but too little to live.
My wife looked at unpackaged shops within a radius of about 200 km. There haven't been many. And at the same time, my daughter Luisa had many positive thoughts of changing something in her life. At that time she was travelling in South America and saw how everything was littered with plastic.
When Luisa, then 22 years old, came back from her journey, she went straight to us and her grandma and said: I keep doing our shop, but completely different.
She told us about her intention to completely dispense with plastic in the store, to offer the products unpackaged and above all to offer regional and organic products.
Wow, certainly not easy in a village with 1000 inhabitants. But Luisa is convinced and we also find these thoughts brilliant.
How are these products offered? Definitely in containers without plastic. Glasses, sacks, cans, bulkors or food dispensers? We looked at everything, but found nothing reasonable. The usual wood-glass dispensers did not agree with us for hygiene reasons, because of the poor cleaning possibility. In the case of stainless steel glass dispensers, the leak-out mechanism and the sprinkling of fine products did not give us any notice. In addition, these designs were made of rather thin material.
So I designed my own food dispenser. Easy to disassemble and clean, made entirely of glass and solid stainless steel (uncaputable), easy to use, different volumes and at an affordable price.
Here he is, the FoodBin 🙂
